John R. Folger, CIE, CIEC
Owner of Air Quality Analytical, Inc.
John's Professional Environmental Consulting career began in 1988 in Richmond, VA when he started his work at Roche Analytics as an Asbestos Building Inspector and Consultant. After few years at Roche, John was presented with an opportunity to move to Wilmington, NC and open his own Environmental Consulting Firm which he successfully managed for 8 years. In 2003 after being diagnosed with a serious form of cancer John had sold his business and started Air Quality Analytical, Inc. with his wife Anya, who is a Certified Fungal Spore Analyst by Chicago McCrone Research Institute.
Working between radiation treatments, chemotherapy and visits to Duke University specialists John's business had flourished thanks to his positive attitude and determination to beat the deadly disease and make his new business a success. After 2 years of therapy doctors were amazed at his progress. They gave him the great news - remission!
John has a 14 year old son who wants to become an Environmental Professional like his dad and work as partner in Air Quality Analytical.
Certifications
In 1998 John became certified as an Indoor Environmentalist (CIE) with the Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA). He later became Certified as a Indoor Environmental Consultant (CIEC) by the American Council for Accredited Certifications (ACAC) which is the highest certification that can be obtained for performing Indoor Environmental Assessments (including mold).
John has also gained certification as a Building Scientist and Mechanical Hygienist. He also maintained his Asbestos Building Inspector, Asbestos Air Monitor and Asbestos Abatement Designer Accreditations in North and South Carolinas.
